An independent Skate Forum is being formed to lobby and apply
for grants to improve facilities and opportunities to skaters
around the Borough.
Young people and adults are required to get the project off the
ground. If you are interested please contact us.
An outline planning application for a small skatepark in Malinslee
has been approved. Consultation on design will be started in
2008
Newport Skate Park project has chosen the winning design. The
chosen design is likely to be the biggest and best skate park in
Shropshire. The project now has planning approval. The group are
currently fundraising for the £155,000 project and have
re-submitted a Big Lottery Fund application. A decision on this bid
will be made in July 2008. Should this be successful the contract
will start in January 2009.
A major refurbishment of the Woodside Skatepark is being
investigated. Consultation on design is likely to be started in
2008.
Leegomery Skatepark has been extended and now includes a Grind
Box.

A
strategy is currently being drawn up to justify demand for
additional skate parks to those above.
We
are now working on a project to provide a skatepark for
Newport, one for
Donnington and a major revamp of the Woodside skate
park.
