Hartshill Park is used for informal recreation, local events, bowling and football.

History:
In 1927 the Miners' Welfare Fund was responsible for levelling a pit mound at the junction of Hartshill and Hadley Roads, on which a public recreation ground was opened. This then formed the base for what today, is know as Hartshill Park Over the intervening years, the park has been the base for many local events, not least of which was the final destination of Oakengates Carnival. The carnival procession started it's journey in Gibbons Road, Trench and travelled through Wrockwardine Wood, down the main street of Oakengates and then through the park gates for a family afternoon event.
Today the park is used for very informal occasions, including local football matches.
