Local Democracy Week
13- 17 October

Children and young people from across Telford and Wrekin are being urged to 'Take Part: Take Power' as part of a national initiative this week. Local Democracy Week aims to get young people thinking about local issues while getting involved with local democracy and decision making.

What's new in the council

Deployment of temporary flood defences in the Ironbridge Gorge - stand down
Please note, the latest information we have from the Environment Agency is that they have revised their predictions and it looks unlikely that there will be a threat of flooding in Ironbridge. It is the intention therefore to try and have the Wharfage reopened to traffic by 7pm this evening.

School Admissions
Now's the time to apply for a school place at a Telford and Wrekin school for your child in the academic year 2009-2010. The dates you need to apply by are: Friday 7 November 2008 for Year 7 - child's date of birth between 1 September 1997 and 31 August 1998; Friday 19 December 2008 for Reception - child's date of birth between 1 September 2004 and 31 August 2005.
