During 2006/07 7 workers died at work falling from
ladders and nearly 1000 suffered major injuries. Around a third of
all falls, are from ladders. In response, Telford & Wrekin
Council's Environmental Health team are holding their first ever
ladder amnesty for local businesses to get rid of any damaged or
defective ladders and avoid prosecution at the same time.
Officers from Environmental Health will be inspecting businesses
across the borough for ladder safety from 6 October to 17 October
2008, and will take action against employers who are putting their
employee's safety at risk.
These web pages show employers, dutyholders and workers how to use
ladders safely and minimise the risk of falls.
