How to apply for vehicular access |
| Details on how to apply for permission to construct a
vehicular access accross a public
footway. | |
| If you want to construct a vehicular access (also called
a 'dropped crossing') to your property, you need to
apply for a licence. If you have any queries on how to complete
the application form, please
contact us.
Once we have received your application, we
will then inspect the site to see whether it is suitable, taking
into account the following:
- The site does not effect the safety of and is not detrimental
to other highway users
- There is a clear 6m distance between the highway and the
property frontage
If the site is suitable, we will then give you
approval and send you an information pack. You will need to
complete the forms in the pack and return them with a fee.
You will need to inform us when the work will be undertaken, so
that we can carry out an inspection to ensure that it has been
carried out to our specification. Once the work is complete, we
will continue to maintain the footway including the vehicular
crossing.
