| Telford & Wrekin Council and the Town and Parish
Councils are responsible for providing street lighting in
accordance with the following
definitions: | |
Highway Standard Lighting
A system of lighting for any highway or proposed highway, approved
by the Highway Authority.
Footway Standard Lighting
A system of local lighting provided by District, Town and Parish
Councils, but requiring the consent of the Highway Authority to
provide lighting on a highway.
Amenity Lighting
A system of lighting of an appropriate standard in areas and
locations where the public have access (e.g. car parks, leisure
centres, unadopted roads and footpaths etc.).
Section
270 of the Highways Act 1980 also
defines street lighting
