Borough of Telford & Wrekin

Traffic management

Traffic Management is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient use of the Council's highway network, ensuring the free movement of people and goods and maximizing the use of the network through effective highway management.

The team currently consists of five members: team leader, principal engineer, two assistant engineers and an administrator.

Our main tasks are to design and implement new traffic schemes, such as traffic calming, signalization of complex junctions, walking and cycling schemes and pedestrian crossings.

We also administer applications for disabled parking bays, access protection markings, dropped crossings, visibility aids (mirrors), temporary traffic signals and road closures to accommodate roadworks and community events, tourism signing, new traffic signs and traffic signal faults. We also deal with enquiries regarding on street parking. For off street parking, please go to Parking

Within the council we work closely with Development Control, Rights of Way, Road Safety, Policy, Engineering and Highways as well as outside partners including Jacobs Babtie, Peek Traffic, Telford & Wrekin Services and West Mercia Police. We are members of the Safety Camera Partnership.
