Telford residents are
being urged to take part in a major new campaign aimed at helping
to keep the borough looking clean and green.
Keep Britain Tidy is running a month long blitz on litter
throughout September and is calling on people across the country to
take part and help tidy up their own neighbourhoods.
A number of litter picks are being held in Telford and Wrekin
during the month including one on 26th September which will be led
by the council's Chief Executive Steve Wellings to show how
important it is that everyone plays their part in helping to keep
their local environment looking clean and green. The event will
take place from 12.30pm on Friday 26th September in Bishopdale,
Brookside. Come and join us!
Newdale Primary School will also hold a tidy up on Tuesday
30th September when staff and parents will be helping
youngsters to pick up litter in the area around the school.
It is hoped that across the country, the Big Tidy Up will see half
a million bin bags of litter collected.
Other litter picks registered in Telford include Sutherland
Business & Enterprise College Eco Team, First Madeley Cubs,
Madeley Green Day, and events in Priorslee, Wrockwardine Wood,
Trench, Aqueduct and Church Aston.
Dropping litter is a criminal offence and you can be fined up to
£75
