The new Better Homes For All package has been developed following a robust consultation on the proposed Selective Licensing scheme during 2017.
The majority of the respondents agreed that there were significant issues that needed to be tackled in relation to housing standards in the private rented sector. However many stated that the proposed solution, selective licensing, was not the answer and that we should find alternative ways of improving standards.
In particular, respondents wanted to see increased use of current and existing powers for enforcement, increased emphasis on education and specific support to improve landlord and rented accommodation standards.
The Council has listened carefully to these findings and developed the a new package of solutions;
- Better Homes For All - Cabinet Report, 15 February 2018
- Enhanced Conditions for Houses of Multiple Occupancy (HMO)
- Housing Enforcement Policy
- Landlord Accreditation Scheme
