North Telford Footpath / Cycleway

This project has formed the first phase of the Railfreight Terminal Project by providing new site infrastructure of footpaths and cycleways. These high quality infrastructure improvements have linked residential area with areas of employment, further education and District Centres. In addition, the release the old rail alignment will enable reuse of the railway.

The project also assists and supports change to more sustainable transport for local journeys and the provision of recreational and tourism facilities. This is particularly important as the National Cycleway Network takes shape.

The benefits of the first phase of the project have been the significant improvements to community safety as a result of high standards of construction in terms of access, width, visibility, surface, signing and lighting.

The improved footpaths and cycleways have provided the opportunity for the people of North Telford to walk or cycle to their chosen destination rather than relying on car or bus journeys.
