Listening and mentoring skills training

This is a two day workshop providing basic skills in listening and mentoring for those working with children and parents
Childcare practitoners often find themselves supporting parents/carers who may wish to talk about difficult issues - parenting skills, children's behaviour, child protection, illness, divorce and bereavement for example.

Course Aim: To enable participants to develop their skills of listening and communicating in a one-to-one situation

Course Type: Practical Workshops which will involve skills practice

By the end of the two sessions participants will have:

  • Explored and practised the skills of active listening
  • Explored some of the barriers to good communication
  • Become more aware of how they communicate with others
  • Develop strategies for on-going support
  • Identify other organisations who may be able to help
