Market St/Oxford St

The draft design ideas for Oakengates have been developed following public consultation that took place in 2010 by a regeneration working group. Proposals are now being developed to revamp Market Street and Oxford Street in Oakengates town centre.

The scheme will involve improving the footways and on street parking in the town centre. Suggestions have also been made to re-open Market Street to through traffic.

The regeneration working group are starting to consider the types of materials to be used as part of the project which will help designs to be drawn up. Final plans will be exhibited for the local community to see what work is proposed.

Work on site is planned to start in late summer 2011.
