Lantern Parade 2012

The annual Christmas Lantern Parade, usually staged in December, is being moved to Friday 17 February (half term) 2012 and will be a celebration of the forthcoming London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games and the Olympic Flame and Torch Relay coming to Telford and Wrekin on 30 May.

Instead of making Christmas lanterns we are inviting the public to come along to free workshops to make their own 'torch' lantern designs and bring them along to the Parade.

The Parade will take place from 6-7.30pm starting at 6pm outside Telford Library in Southwater Square. Paul Shuttleworth from Radio Shropshire will host the start of the Parade.

The Torch Lantern Parade will launch the Games and Me programme of events organised by Telford & Wrekin Council in the local area to celebrate the London 2012 Games.

The Lantern Parade event is being sponsored by local company Scadge Studios, a creative media company based in Hortonwood, Telford and Singing Tooth Productions a theatre Production company also based in Telford.
