How and where to pay your council tax
Pay by Direct Debit
This is the cheapest, safest and most efficient way to pay your council tax. If you want to pay your council tax monthly, we offer the choice of five payment dates; the 1st, 8th, 15th, 22nd or 28th of the month for Direct Debit payers. We also offer weekly or fortnightly Direct Debit.
If you wish to pay by Direct Debit, you can now sign up over the phone. Just call the Council Tax Team on 01952 383838 or download a Direct Debit mandate.
Use our online payment facility to pay your bill directly and securely to the Council.
You can set up BACS payments directly with your bank or through internet banking by quoting your council tax reference number and using these details:

You can make a payment over the phone using a credit or debit card, by calling 01952 383977.

This is an automated telephone payment facility. If you prefer to speak with a Customer Services Officer, please contact the Council Tax Team on 01952 383838.
At a PayPoint outlet
You can pay your council tax at a wide range of locations across the area, wherever the PayPoint logo is displayed. This includes a number of local shops and garages.
You must use the barcode on your most recent bill or reminder notice each time you use this service. Please note that some outlets will only accept cash payments.
At the Post Office
You can pay your council tax at any Post Office. You must use the barcode on your most recent bill or reminder notice each time you use this service.
At First Point Telford
You can make a payment for council tax by debit card, credit card or cheque at First Point Telford at Southwater One.
Cash payments are no longer accepted at Southwater One
Cheques should be made payable to 'Telford & Wrekin Council'.
If you want to post your cheque send it to:

Please make sure that you write your council tax account number, your name and the address of the property to which the payment relates on the back of your cheque. Cheques must be posted so that they reach us before the instalment date. Please allow at least five working days for your payment to reach us, and to be processed through the banking and Council's systems.
