Disability forum

Disability forum is a quarterly meeting that brings together members of the disabled community, carers, voluntary organisations and public bodies such as the police, and Telford and Wrekin NHS.

The forum provides an opportunity for learning about the needs of individuals and sharing of information.

From time to time the forum focuses on one particular area of borough life to deal with a specfic challenge such as disability awareness within the taxi and private hire industry.  

Successes include:

• introduction of a disability awareness qualification for drivers
• improved access to swimming pools and leisure centre facilities
• heavily involved with the development of the disability equality scheme.
