Housing advice and information
If you have a housing query or problem, the Council's Housing Options team can help you.
The Housing Options team offers free, independent housing advice to anyone with a housing problem, no matter whether they own their own house, rent from a housing association or from a private landlord. The Housing Options team can advise on a range of housing options including renting from a private landlord and access to bond schemes and rent deposit schemes.
If you do have a housing problem, the first step is to call our helpline on 01952 381925, so that we can assess your situation and advise you of the best options for you. All calls to the helpline will be dealt with in confidence. Our trained staff will arrange an interview - if you need it, and we will endeavour to arrange an appointment within 14 days of your request.
The leaflet 'Are you worried about losing your home?' outlines the services we can provide.
We can help if:
- you have rent or mortgage arrears
- you are threatened with eviction or repossession
- your accommodation is unsuitable for your needs
- you are suffering from physical or emotional abuse
- you think you are about to become homeless, or need help finding and keeping a home
Our trained advisors will be able to discuss the options which best meet your needs.
If you require emergency advice outside normal office hours, please call the 24 hour helpline on 01952 676500.
