Traffic management

Traffic management information

Traffic Management is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient use of the Council's highway network, ensuring the free movement of people and goods and maximising the use of the network through effective highway management.

The team are responsible for delivery of traffic and highway services detailed in the Local Transport Plan together with other related capital and revenue schemes.

Our main tasks are to design and implement new traffic schemes, local safety schemes, walking and cycling, improvements to the highway network, and introduction of Intelligent Transport Systems.

We administer applications for disabled parking bays, access protection markings, dropped crossings, temporary traffic signals, road closures to accommodate roadworks and community events, tourism signing, new traffic signs and traffic signal faults. We also deal with enquiries regarding on street parking. For off street parking, please view the parking web page.

Within the council we work closely with Highway Development Control, Rights of Way, Road Safety, Policy, Engineering and Highways as well as outside partners including Jacobs Babtie, Peek Traffic, Telford and Wrekin Services and West Mercia Police. We are members of the Safer Roads Partnership.
