Cycling safety
Cycle safety tips
- Having decided where to go you need to consider the needs of your party (steep inclines, special needs etc).
- If you are cycling alone, let someone know where you are going and the route you will be taking.
- Ensure your mobile phone is fully charged. Will there be a signal where you are going?
- Always take a snack and a drink with you.
- Consider taking some spares with you, particularly if you are going off road. This should include
o Spare inner tube/puncture repair kit
o Pump
o Cycle spanner - Cycle lights front & back with spare batteries. Remember, lights are for poor visibility so not just for the dark. What about fog and rain for example?
- Wear bright clothing such as high visibility vests or jackets.
- Wear reflective material at night.
- Dont forget your bike lock.
- Check your bike regularly and have it maintained to keep it in good condition.
