Details of any forthcoming elections are detailed below. The next round of full local elections will take place in 2015.
Election for Wellington Town Council (College Ward) will be held on Thursday, 17 April 2014
Following the resignation of Cllr Jane Chaplin a vacancy has arisen on the Wellington Town Council (College Ward).
Elections for the European Parliament will be held on Thursday 22 May 2014
European Parliamentary elections are held every five years in all 28 of the European Union states. The UK will be represented by 73 MEPs. Under a system of proportional representation, the UK is divided into 12 regions. There will be 7 MEPs for the West Midlands region. All 7 will represent each person resident in the West Midlands.
Who can vote?
UK, Irish and Commonwealth citizens may vote in these elections if they are included in the Register of Electors. The last day for registering to vote for these elections is 6 May 2014. If you are not already on the Register of Electors, you should complete a Voter Registration Form.
European Union citizens
European Union citizens (other than British, Irish, Cypriot or Maltese) who wish to vote in the European Parliamentary elections in the UK rather than in their home member state, must also complete a separate European Parliament Voter Registration Form.
The Regional Returning Officer
The European Parliamentary Elections are being coordinated by the West Midlands Regional Returning Officer at Birmingham. The Regional Returning Officer will assist candidates and parties wishing to stand in these elections.
