There are currently 6 environmental estate response teams working across the borough 5 days a week. Each team consists of 2 x TWS cleansing operatives and we are currently recruiting an apprentice for each team.What work do the teams carry out?
- For the first 3 days of the week the estate response teams carry out core cleansing work which includes litter picking and also emptying litter bins.
- For the last 2 days of the week the teams carry out added value work which can include removal of litter from woodlands, grass maintenance, hedge maintenance, planting and weeding and much more.
Training & Qualifications
The estate response team will be trained to carry out the core cleansing work, but will also receive further training to carry out the added value work to improve services delivered to the public.
The team will also learn soft skills such as developing the job role, communicating effectively, reducing work place risks and working with others and following work procedures.
The apprentices will gain an NVQ level 2 qualification in Cleaning and Environmental Services at the end of their apprenticeship which will be a valuable qualification when seeking future employment.
