Scaffolding and hoarding licence

The erection of any structure over a public highway such as scaffolding or a hoarding will require a licence from us before it can be erected.

An additional licence is needed if you plan to install a protective fan.

Applicable regulations

The regulations that apply to this licence are as follows:

  • Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
  • Construction (Design and Management) Regulation 2007
  • Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999.

Conditions of the licence

A licence may set down standards on such matters as lighting or painting the scaffold, or for a fan it may restrict the height at which it is set.

Charges

There is a non-refundable charge of £100 to cover the administrative cost in processing the licence. We will not begin to process the application without payment.
