Infectious diseases

If you suspect you are suffering from food poisoning, you must visit your G.P.  He/she will arrange for a test to determine the actual nature of the problem. If test is positive, Environmental Health will automatically be informed of the results, and an Environmental Health Officer will contact you to attempt to discover the likely source of the infection.

  • Confirmed cases of Salmonella, Clostridium, Listeria, Giardia, Hepatitis 'A' - within 5 working days.
  • Suspected food poisoning or confirmed E.Coli, Typhoid - by the end of the next working day.
  • Cases that may be linked to an outbreak or a hospital notification - immediately.
