Street lighting

Report a street light fault

You must first tell us about the street light either by using our online form or contact Highways and Transport Maintenance team.

Once we have received your enquiry we would normally instruct our street lighting contractor to investigate and fix the problem.

The time it takes for us to fix a street lighting problem is normally based on a priority system. This system looks at the circumstances of each problem, for example;

  • for repairs to dangerous street light problems, such as exposed electrical wiring we will aim to respond within 2 hours
  • for failure of street lights affecting a whole street we will aim to respond within 24 hours
  • for failure of a single street light we will aim to respond within 5 working days.

All other problems will normally be dealt with under planned work and routine maintenance.
