Council tax payments - cheques
We can no longer accept cheques to pay your council tax, please use one of our alternative payment methods such as direct debit, 24 hour payment line or online payments.
You can use any of the following methods to pay your Council Tax.
Pay by Direct Debit
A direct debit is an automated payment taken direct from your bank/building society account on a weekly, fortnightly or monthly basis - the choice is yours. This is the cheapest and most efficient way to pay your Council Tax. We will provide you with 14 days notice before we take your first payment. Online payments
Use our online payment facility to pay your bill directly and securely to the Council. You will need your Council Tax account number and credit/debit card.
At your bank
You can set up a payment directly with your bank or through telephone/internet banking by quoting your Council Tax account number and using these details:
- our sort code - 30-18-55
- our account number - 55445668
Telephone payments
You can make a payment using our automated telephone line, available 24/7, by calling 01952 383977. Please have your Council Tax account number and credit/debit card details to hand.

At the Post Office or Pay Point outlet
If paying at the Post Office you will need to take your bill with you so they can scan the barcode. To pay at a Pay Point outlet you will need to take your existing payment card.

In person and by post
You are unable to pay Council Tax in person by credit/debit card at First Point Telford, Southwater One. Cash payments are also no longer accepted.
