Stafford Street road closure

Stafford Street in Newport will be closed from Saturday for five days from the High St roundabout to the traffic lights at the junction with Water Lane and Audley Road. Diversions will be in place.

These essential sewer connection works are being undertaken on behalf of Severn Trent.

Diversion signage will be in place throughout the closure in order that drivers are still able to access their destinations and bypass Stafford Street .

The contractors will be working to keep disruption to a minimum and access will be maintained for residents.

A number of bus routes will be affected during this time. 

Services 17, 18 and 19 will not use Stafford Street or the bus interchange with the nearest stop being the High Street. 

Bus service 481 will not serve Granville Road , High Street or the bus interchange.

The 519 bus service will not serve the bus interchange but the High Street will be used as an alternative stop.
