Mobile Library service for Lightmoor

Published on 02 February 2012

Lightmoor residents will soon have the opportunity to turn into regular bookworms with a new mobile library run set to start in the area tomorrow.

Telford & Wrekin Council's Mobile Library service will be stopping near to the school from Friday (3 FEB) between 2.15pm and 2.45pm.  This new stop will then take place every three weeks in the same location.

The mobile library visits rural areas, town estates and sheltered dwellings across the borough and makes it possible for even more residents of the area to access the services of the library without having to travel a distance to reach the nearest library itself.

The mobile library vehicle is fully accessible with low steps and a ramp so is easy for residents with reduced mobility to use.

The service carries a full range of books to suit all tastes, ages and abilities.  The books on board are frequently changed and if customers cannot find specific books, the driver is on hand to help make a request and bring the item out on the next visit.

Cllr Arnold England , Cabinet Member for Leisure & Well-being, said: "The mobile library is a popular service for residents who may not be able to get to their local library and I'm delighted that we have been able to respond to demand by finding a slot to serve Lightmoor in what is a very busy schedule for the vehicle.
