Social care service providers
About social care service providers
Adult social care spending, on care services, in 2008/09 was just over £50million, of which almost £42million (nearly 83%) worth of services are purchased from independent, voluntary and community sector providers.
There is an expectation that we will purchase quality care, hence purchasing arrangements are only made with care providers who have met certain standards. At present the Care Quality Commission (CQC) registers care homes and domiciliary care agencies under a national registration scheme, whilst the accreditation of day services is undertaken locally, by the Council.
