Consultation and involvement

We recognise the importance of involving the people who use our services in helping us make decisions and in planning for the future of our services.

We have developed an Involvement Strategy based upon a commitment to:

  • ensuring that consideration is given to the appropriateness of people being involved in the development, review and redesign of services
  • developing methods of consultation, feedback and involvement which are effective and useful for individuals and communities
  • using the views and information gained from involvement processes in an open and accountable manner
  • valuing the contribution of the public to the consultative process and being honest and open about the various factors that govern the development of services
  • making active links between the consultation and involvement process, and the other areas such as public information, equalities development and complaints
  • supporting the public who use our services to express their views, even when these are critical of the service they are receiving
  • ensuring people who use our services receive feedback when they engage with the Council
  • engaging with all sections of our local community in a fair and equal way

If you are a service user or carer, we may contact you from time to time to gather your views and ideas as services are planned and developed.

If you would like to see if there are currently any opportunities available to be involved in consultation or engagement activities, or if you would like any further information, please contact the User/Carer Engagement Co-ordinator on 01952 381106.
