Jiggers Bank road closure

Jiggers Bank will continue to be closed following the rockfall near the top of Jiggers Bank earlier this week.

We expect the closure to continue at least until Saturday (Dec 1) evening, subject to no further problems being identified.

A diversion will continue in operation using the Buildwas bypass from Dale End.

The collapse follows the recent heavy rains, which had pushed rock debris on to the road. Engineers have also found a further section of rock that could collapse and will need to remove or stabilise this before the road can re-open.

The rockfall is in an area some distance away from where engineering works took place earlier this month and has not been subject to rockfalls in recent years.
