Worried about money?

There’s lots we can do to help. Find out what support is on offer.

Dial-a-Ride

The Dial-a-Ride scheme offers a door-to-door service for residents who cannot access conventional public transport due to mobility problems.

The Dial-a-Ride service is available to residents who are eligible and who qualify under certain criteria. To apply to use the service please complete the online application form providing any evidence required. You will be contacted by a member of the Passenger Transport team once your application has been received to discuss eligibility and suitability prior to accessing the service.

Please note: that you are not eligible for Dial-a-ride if you have access to a mobility car.

Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) door-to-bus stop service

We also offers a Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) door-to-bus stop service for residents who are unable access conventional public transport due to the fact that there is no public transport access where they live. This service has been put in place to complement the fixed route public transport services and improve mobility. DRT also contributes to decarbonisation by replacing single private car journeys and facilitating multi-modal travel (for example, linking users to a train station or fixed route bus service).

To apply to use the service please complete the online application form providing any evidence required. You will be contacted by a member of the Passenger Transport team once your application has been received to discuss eligibility and suitability prior to accessing the service.

Please also note that for those applying on the basis of no access to public transport we will assess the application based on the walking distance to the nearest bus stop. If the bus stop is further than 3 miles then you will qualify for the service. Passengers who qualify under the 'no access to public transport' criteria will be picked up from their home address and taken to the nearest bus stop to access the wider public transport network.

Further information

Fares on the Dial-a-ride service are charged £2 each way. Carers / companions can travel for free but must be pre-registered, we will ask for this information when completing a risk assessment for the service. We are unable to accept concessionary passes on the dial a ride service as this is a door to door service.

Fares on the Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) door-to-bus stop service will be charged at the point of your onwards public transport journey i.e. you will be required to purchase a ticket on the public bus when you alight. If requesting a journey back from the bus stop to home we will request evidence of your public transport journey and you will be required to show your ticket and or concessionary pass.

All vehicles are easy to access, having the ability to carry passengers in wheelchairs. All staff are fully trained in disability awareness and passenger safety to ensure the comfort and well-being of customers.
