Reason for consultation During the Summer 2011 the Council carried out a large scale consultation called Shaping the Future. Over 2,800 people told us what matters to them about Telford and Wrekin and what they felt needed to change in the Borough. This information helped the Council’s Cabinet to design its priorities, which were agreed mid February 2012. The Council is now working on its plan for the future – the Council Plan and Vision 2020; part of this plan will show what needs to be done to reach the Council’s agreed six priorities.
Overview The Council now needs to know what local people think we need to achieve under each priority and how local people will know that the Council has been successful; for example

Council Priority – Improved life chances for all
Outcome (what we want to achieve) – Children have good quality education
Measure (how we can show that children have good quality education) – X% of children receive A – C Grades in GSCE Exams

We will be meeting with Community Panel member’s in focus groups to explore the following questions:

• What do you think we need to achieve under each Council priority?

• What do you think we need to measure to show evidence on our progress under each priority?
How to get involved? We're running focus group sessions to targeted Community Panel members
What happens next? Findings of the focus groups will feed into the Council’s Medium Term Plan for 2012/13 to 2014/15 which will be agreed by Council in September 2012
