Grants to get everyone active together

Daily mile running routes, BMX biking, climbing and walking as well as a host of other sports and activities are about to get a boost with the announcement of more than 20 successful ‘Get Telford Active’ projects.

More than £50,000 has been made available by Telford & Wrekin Council with up to a maximum of £5,000 per applicant.

Almost 50 applications flooded in from around the borough for the one-off award that aims to create new community-led activities, helping more people, typically those who aren’t involved in a particular sport or regular activity, to have a go in ‘mass participation’ events.

The first event, ‘Get Telford Walking’, will be on Sunday 19 May 2019 with starting points around the borough, details of this event can be found on the Facebook page 'Get Telford Walking'.

Full details of the other events and will be announced on the Healthy Telford blog.
