Local list validation review

We are consulting on the review of our local validation requirements, known as the 'local list'.

Local planning authorities are required to publish a list of information they require to validate planning applications. The validation list sets out national requirements and specific local requirements. Once finalised, planning applications will be expected to be accompanied by the relevant documents for the type of planning application, as set out in the document.

The Government requires local lists to be reviewed every two years. In recent years, there have been significant changes in national planning policy, legislation and guidance. Therefore, the Council have undertaken a review of its local list.

The revised local list includes the following sections:

  • validation checklists
  • validation guidance (FAQs)
  • national requirements
  • guidance on the content of documents and forms.
