Omicron Business Grants - update 18 March 2022

Both the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure grant scheme and the Omicron Additional Restrictions Grant (ARG) scheme closed for new applications at 5pm on the 18 March 2022.

We are currently in the process of assessing the remaining applications received.

Omicron Additional Restrictions Grants (ARG) – update 14 January 2022

Alongside the mandatory Omicron Hospitality and Leisure grant scheme the Chancellor announced on the 21 December 2021 a top-up to ARG funding for Local Authorities.

An additional £258k of funding has been made available to support businesses within the borough of Telford and Wrekin which have been severely impacted by the Omicron variant.

As businesses in the hospitality, leisure and accommodation sectors have seen the biggest impact by the Omicron variant the Council has decided that the latest ARG funding will be used to support these businesses.

Business that apply and are eligible for the mandatory Omicron Hospitality and Leisure grant scheme will receive the additional top up payment automatically. If you have already applied there is no requirement to contact us or re-apply. The additional top up amount will be detailed separately on your email confirming your entitlement to the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure grant. Omicron Business Grants - update 7 January 2022

Businesses registered for Business Rates within Telford and Wrekin can now apply for a Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant.

Omicron Business Grants - update 5 January 2022

We have now received the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant guidance

The scheme will provide support to hospitality, leisure and accommodation businesses impacted by the Omicron variant. The support will be a one-off grant, available for businesses on the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) business ratings list on 30 December only.

This table shows the Omicron Hospitality and Leisure Grant amounts.
Rateable value Payment
Rateable value of £15,000 or under £2,667
Rateable value over £15,000 and less than £51,000 £4,000
Rateable value of exactly £51,000 or over £6,000

Businesses will be familiar with our online application process from the previous grant schemes administered by the council. While you wait for the application form, you can gather the following to support your online application:

  • bank statement dated within the past three months
  • your business rates reference number (located on your business rates bill from the council)
  • full details of all the business grants you have received to date
  • your business unique reference number (i.e. company number, tax reference number, VAT number, self-assessment number etc).

Omicron Business Grants - update 21 December 2021

Today the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, has announced £1 billion in support for businesses most impacted by the Omicron variant across the UK.

Businesses in the hospitality and leisure sectors in England will be eligible for one-off grants of up to £6,000 per premises, plus more than £100 million discretionary funding will be made available for local authorities to support other businesses. 

We are currently awaiting further Government guidance and we will update this page in due course.


Telford Growth and Recovery Programme - update 9 November 2021

Telford & Wrekin Council is offering new growth and recovery grants of between £2,000 and £10,000 to eligible SME Telford and Wrekin businesses.

Businesses should read the overview of each fund, the eligibility criteria and guidance to determine if they are eligible to apply.
