Using the register can assist in the identification of high risk premises both in the case of an outbreak and also for the purposes of monitoring and inspection.

Wet cooling systems in Telford and Wrekin are both enforced by Telford & Wrekin Council and the Health and Safety Executive (HSE), depending on the main activity of the premises. The Public Register is held and maintained by Telford & Wrekin Council.
