Grass and hedge cutting

Hedge cutting takes place between August and November to avoid the bird nesting season.

Cutting usually takes place with a tractor. Cutting will vary depending on the hedge but hedges will receive either a side cut, side and top cut, two side cut or a two side and top cut.

Please note: the Council will not perform works on tall hedges on private land, the responsibility is with the land owner. We will only investigate complaints regarding high hedges on private land if you have taken all reasonable steps to settle your dispute before making a formal complaint. Where circumstances justify it, our Planning team will issue a formal notice to the hedge owner instructing them how to remedy the problem and by when. View more information about high hedges.
