The Happy Healthy & Active Holidays programme has been supported through a grant from the Department of Education to support the provision of holiday club activities and information for children 5 - 16 years of age, on income related Free School Meals (FSM) to enjoy a happy healthy holiday.
The programme will offer free holiday clubs that include a healthy nutritious meal, physical and enriching activities.
To support the programme there are three volunteer roles, you can just do one role or you might have skills in all the different areas, so you can combine your skills to do different roles at different venues. You can apply for a volunteer role by visiting the Discover Shropshire & Telford website.
Physical activity volunteer
Physical activities: activities which meet the Physical Activity Guidelines on a daily basis. Holiday Club will need to ensure that children take part in 60 minutes of physical activity per session. These activities will see children breathing faster and feeling warmer.
Health and wellbeing volunteer
Enriching activities: fun and enriching activities that provide children with opportunities to develop new skills or knowledge, to consolidate existing skills and knowledge, or to try out new experiences.
Healthy nutritious meals: Holiday clubs are required to provide at least one meal a day and all food must meet school food standards.
