There are major infrastructure improvement works planned across the gorge during the autumn/winter months which will mean some roads will be closed and diversions in place. Businesses will remain open as usual throughout the works and access maintained. More details will be provided on these in the coming weeks.
These are essential works that need to be carried out and appreciate this will call some disruption but the council has worked hard to combine projects and ensure seven day working where possible to minimise this.
Church Road, Coalbrookdale - 22 February 2021 - 30 April 2021
- Road closure: from its junction with Wellington Road and its junction with Lincoln Hill.
- Work details: Vehicle Restraints Upgrade and Retaining wall Repair works.
- Organisation: Telford & Wrekin Council Balfour Beatty.
Severn Valley Way – 19 April 2021 – 23 April 2021
- Footpath closure: from Station Yard Car park to its junction with the footbridge access to Lloyds Head, Jackfield .
- Work details: Remedial Works.
- Organisation: Barhale Construction Ltd.
The Wharfage, Tontine Hill and High Street – 19 April 2021 – 16 May 2021
- Road closure: from its junction with High Street Roundabout and Dale End.
The road along the Wharfage will be closed to vehicular traffic, and bus routes diverted in the same way as during Flood Barrier deployment.
Pedestrian access will be retained for businesses and residents at all times. - Work details: Ground Investigation works to inform the engineering design for the new road surface and improve the resilience of the existing temporary defences when deployed.
