What is Connected for Warmth?
Almost 1 in 9 homes in Telford and Wrekin are in fuel poverty, which means they cannot afford to heat their homes to an acceptable level.
Telford & Wrekin Council has recently secured funding for the Connected for Warmth scheme, to help eligible households to benefit from a gas central heating system, completely for free.
This funding is limited and will be allocated on a ‘first come, first served’ basis - so residents without gas central heating are encouraged to get in touch as soon as possible to find out if they are eligible and get their applications in.
What can Connected for Warmth do for me?
If you are eligible for the scheme, you are offered a gas central heating system and installation completely for free.
Am I eligible?
The scheme is open to homeowners, council or housing association tenants and private tenants. Please note: that tenants will require their landlord’s permission.
You’re likely to be eligible if you heat your home using one of the following:
- electric storage heaters
- room heaters
- open fires
- you are in receipt of any means-tested or disability related benefits.
If you are on a low income and have a high cost of heating your home, or on a low income and vulnerable to the cold because of age, illness or disability, you may also be eligible.
If you are on a low income and have a high cost of heating your home, if you are in receipt of any means-tested or disability related benefits, you might be eligible for this service.
For more details about eligibility visit the Connected for Warmth website.
How it works
Once you have applied:
- your eligibility is checked
- the suitability of your property for a gas central heating system is checked
- a gas connection and gas meter (if applicable) is arranged
- installation of the new central heating system is scheduled (it can take between 3-6 months, depending on a number of factors).
Use the application form below to apply for the Connected for Warmth service, either for yourself or you can apply for someone else e.g. a family member, a friend or neighbour. If applying for someone else, please check with them beforehand as they will be contacted as part of the application process.
