Closed buildings and services - COVID-19 service updates

The Government has announced a 4 week lockdown for England from Thursday 5 November 2020 until Wednesday 2 December 2020.


As such, the following council services must close from Thursday 5 November 2020 to Wednesday 2 December 2020:

  • all council buildings are now closed to the public. Darby House will be accessible for pre-arranged appointments only.
  • all council run and partner operated libraries
  • all leisure centres (the Council will be in touch with aspirations members and other customers with booking during the lockdown period)
  • Horsehay Village Golf Centre
  • Telford Ice Rink
  • Telford Town Park Visitor Centre
  • Registrars - for booked weddings
  • The Place, Telford (the theatre is now closed and all shows have been postponed)
  • Healthy Lifestyles
  • public toilets at Ironbridge Gorge, Newport, Madeley and Wellington

Please note public toilets managed by Telford & Wrekin Council in Ironbridge (located within the Square and Wharfage) are currently open, for details about any other public toilets within Newport, Madeley, Dawley, Donnington and Wellington please contact the appropriate Town/Parish Council who manage these facilities.

Unlike lockdown earlier in the year, all other council services will continue as normal.

Free parking

Additionally, in order to support local businesses, parking charges in the Ironbridge Gorge and two other council run parks in Telford are suspended.
