Direct payments are a method of funding given to people who need to use social care services, but would prefer to use the money to organise their own care, often to employ personal assistants.

Mark Bates Ltd are an insurance company Telford and Wrekin Council uses to provide advice to direct payment users. They have provided a series of guides to users of direct payments who employ their own personal assistants. These guides answers common questions people might have, how to furlough personal assistants, and what precautions you need to take to keep yourself and your personal assistant safe.
