Find out how to claim the grant if you're self-employed or a member of a partnership and have been impacted by coronavirus (COVID-19).
Claims for the fourth SEISS grant are now closed. The fifth grant is different.
In most cases, you’ll need to provide 2 turnover figures when you make your claim. HMRC will use these to work out how much you’ll get.
You do not need turnover figures if you started trading in 2019 to 2020 and did not trade in all of the following tax years:
- 2018 to 2019
- 2017 to 2018
- 2016 to 2017.
You must make your claim on or before 30 September 2021.
The UK government has also announced that there will be a fifth and final grant covering May to September.
You will be able to claim from late July if you are eligible for the fifth grant.
The amount of the fifth grant will be determined by how much your turnover has been reduced in the year April 2020 to April 2021.
The fifth grant will be worth:
- 80% of 3 months’ average trading profits, capped at £7,500, for those with a turnover reduction of 30% or more
- 30% of 3 months’ average trading profits, capped at £2,850, for those with a turnover reduction of less than 30%.
If you’re eligible based on your tax returns, HMRC will contact you in mid-July to give you a date that you can make your claim from. It will be given to you either by email, text message, letter or within the online service.
The online service to claim the fifth grant will be available from late July 2021.
The SEISS grant extension provides critical support to the self employed in the form of two further grants, each available for 3 month periods covering November 2020 to January 2021 and February 2021 to April 2021.
The grant is being extended from 1 November 2020.
The grant will be increased from the previously announced level of 40% of trading profits to 80% for November 2020.
