Reason for consultation For the Council to; gather fresh ideas and approaches to consulting and engaging diverse communities, better understand the local community and make engagement and services more relevant
Overview Focus group participants will consider;

• What stops people from diverse communities taking part in Council consultations and engagement structures and what can the Council do to overcome these barriers

• Where can the Council find members of diverse communities, which organisations do diverse communities work with and trust, who are the mentors and aspirational figures for diverse communities, when are the social times/events within diverse communities and how do people from diverse communities like to give their views?

• Top Tips for the Council/Council officers when involving diverse communities
How to get involved? Invitations will be sent to Community Panel members
What happens next? Information gathered at the focus group will be used by the Community Engagement team to ensure that fresh ideas and approaches to consulting and engaging diverse communities are routinely trialled in future
