Outdoor learning training

We have worked with the local Educational Visits Coordinators to create a progressive route to allow educational staff to be able to work in the outdoors with their own students.

Level 1 - Learning Outside the Classroom Practitioner

A flexible course designed to meet the needs of staff to maximise the use of their locality. To create awareness of opportunities and facilitate all staff to access the outdoors with their students. It can include, Explore local / site opportunities, Curriculum delivery through the outdoors, OEAP Learning Cards, OEAP Environmental Education Cards, Field studies/ Story telling/ Environmental Art, Accessibility, Risk assessment and management.

Level 2 - Forest Skills Leader

To develop a team within the staff who can deliver higher level skills, still very specific in the nature of location or activity but accessible and achievable. Could be built around any of the following, Forest Skills, Group management, Progressive activities and personal skills, Fire circles, Tool use, Site development, Risk assessment and management.

Level 3 - Forest School Leader

The National qualification to have an expert on the staff who can lead Outdoor Learning.

Forest Schools

Forest School is a specialised learning approach that sits within and complements the wider context of outdoor and woodland education.

Can act as Technical Adviser with establishment i.e. train and validate other supporting staff.
