Consultations - Local Authorities Research Consortium – LARC5

Who can get involved? Targeted families identified by Children’s Services.
Start date April 2013
Closing date May 2013
Service delivery area Family and Cohesion Services
Reason for consultation LARC stands for the Local Authorities Research Consortium which began in 2007. This year is the fifth year of LARC, hence LARC5. LARC has carried out a number of projects jointly with local authorities (LAs), researchers at NFER and Research in Practice to explore early intervention. For LARC5, nine authorities are exploring how to effectively support families with different levels of need to engage with services across the early intervention spectrum within the overall framework exploring neglect. Telford & Wrekin Council is one of the nine LAs involved in shaping LARC5.
Overview The Council has commissioned a local social enterprise to deliver LARC5. As part of the research, we are keen to hear from families and practitioners. We would like to talk to families who have at some point in time experienced different levels of neglect. All LAs involved in LARC5 have committed to using pre-defined and agreed categories of neglect, based on guidance produced by Southampton’s Local Safeguarding Children’s Board, ‘Really Useful Guide to Recognising Neglect’ . Five levels of neglect have been defined and endorsed by our LA for use as part of the LARC5 research. As part of the LARC5 project, we are only interested in families that have had risk indicators in either level two, three or four.
How to get involved? This is a closed consultation for targeted families only.
