Find a walking group - The Ramblers

Summary of group

The group helps local people enjoy walking. It protects the places people love to walk and organises regular walks led by local experts – a great way to get outside, make new friends.

The local group covering the Telford and Wrekin area is the Telford and East Shropshire Ramblers.

They encourage car sharing and offer lifts to walk starts from Telford Forge Retail Park (FRP) where stated; meet opposite the Furniture Village store, by the green fire assembly point GR SJ693094. The group walks on alternate Sundays, and the first, second and fourth Thursdays of the month. You will need to bring along a snack, drink, packed lunch and weather proof clothing. Dogs are allowed, at the leader's discretion, on a lead but please check with the leader before arriving at the walk start.

Walks locations are very varied; and explore interesting and historic towns, villages, parks, canals, rivers and countryside in and around Telford and include visits to areas of outstanding natural beauty such as the Shropshire Hills, Wenlock Edge, and the Welsh borders.

Length and difficulty varies between 4 miles to 12 miles, graded leisurely to strenuous, so there will be a walk to suit everyone.

On the first Thursday of the month there are short and social walks. These morning or afternoon walks are five miles or less and are taken at a leisurely pace. They often have a theme e.g. bluebells, local history, and begin or end with an optional social event such as a pub lunch or afternoon tea in a local cafe.

Their footpath working party group helps to maintain and clear local footpaths and keep open rights of way with the support of our local councils who also loan them the tools.
