What are the different types of assessments available?

Care Act
This will help us to understand what you are able to do and what support you may need to carry on living independently.


Carers assessment
A carer’s assessment provides you with the opportunity to identify what information, advice and support will be beneficial to you by reflecting on your situation.


Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS)
The safeguards came into force on 1 April 2009 and are intended to ensure that a person's loss of liberty is lawful.


How do I request an assessment
Support if you need to talk about care and support services for the first time, or if you have care and support services from Adult Social Care and your circumstances have changed.

Mental health assessment (MHA)
A Mental Health Act Assessment can be carried out in someone’s home, a hospital, or somewhere else that is deemed a place of safety.

Occupational therapy assess you and your home environment to help identify equipment that will enable you to be more independently.


Personal Budgets

A personal budget is the amount of money that has been agreed by the council as available to meet your eligible care or support needs following a Care Act assessment.
