Register a building as an approved venue
From 30 August 2024, new licences for approved venues will be valid for four years and we will only offer one type of them. If you currently have a licence with us, it will still be valid, and its existing terms and conditions will continue to apply.
Approved venues can be licensed for a four year period within the borough of Telford & Wrekin through the council Registration Service team to hold secular weddings, civil partnerships, baby naming's and renewal of vows ceremonies.
To gain approval, the proprietor or trustee of the venue must apply to us for permission and read our guidance notes (.pdf Size: 106Kb) carefully before submitting their application. New approvals granted will be valid for four years.
You can apply to renew your licence if it expires within a calendar year.
Four year licence fee
- £2,460 - licence to hold a ceremony on any day, including bank holidays, between the hours of 8am and 6pm.
Please note: Only card payments can be taken by the Registration Service. We are unable to take cash payments.

Applications received for premises to be used for marriage and civil partnership ceremonies will be listed on this page. These applications are made in accordance with the following legislation:
- The Marriage Act 1949 (As Amended)
- The Marriages (Approved Premises) Regulations 1995
- The Civil Partnership Act 2004
- The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013.

Application has been made by Gillian Dippenaar for an approval for the use of Wrekin College as a place for civil marriages and civil partnerships in accordance with the above Acts.

Applications to licence your premise as a secular civil partnership and civil marriage venue can be made by completing our application form.

Once we have the completed application form and supporting documents, we will need to come out and inspect your premise. This will incur a fee of £50 (non-refundable if a licence is not granted; however, if a licence is granted, the fee can be deducted from the final balance).
Once we have established the suitability of your venue, we will be in touch so you can make payment in full and we can grant you your licence.
