COVID-19 service updates

At these unprecedented times it is our priority to continue to deliver registration services as best as we can with Government guidelines in mind. Your health and the health of our partners is a priority for us, so at this time there will be amended ways of working. View more information.

A still born child is legally defined as a child born after the 24th week of pregnancy who did not, at any time after being born, breathe or show any other signs of life.

When a child is still born, the doctor or midwife who was present at the birth or examined the body will issue a medical certificate of stillbirth.

The person who registers the still birth must take this certificate to the Registrar's office.

Every still birth in England or Wales must be registered in the district in which it takes place, normally within 42 days.

You are able to register a still birth in Telford and Wrekin at our Register Office in Wellington, Monday to Friday. All registrations are by appointment only. Please book an appointment by calling 01952 382444.
