Highways, roads and paths
We are working hard to keep our roads in good condition so that traffic can move freely around our borough – getting to work, attending schools, seeing friends, returning home. We are also investing in repairs and improvements to paths across the borough.

Over the last two years we have invested £5.2m on improving street lights across the borough.
We have more than 20,000 street lights in Telford and Wrekin. Nearly all of these have now been upgraded with LED technology that uses less energy, reduces pollution and makes it easier for people to see at night, making areas safer.

Our environment matters for our health and wellbeing, and taking care of our neighbourhoods, parks and green spaces is an important part of Pride in Our Community.
We look after 400 acres of parks and green spaces and around 15 million trees in our borough.
We also tackle the environmental issues that matter to people, such as litter, dog fouling and fly tipping and help minimise waste by making it easier for people to recycle.

Bridges and structures
Over the next 2 years we are investing over £5m into maintenance of our existing highways structures. The focus of this investment is structures located on our resilient network. The resilient network is comprised of the most important and well used routes around the borough so it is essential that these structures are kept in good condition.
We currently maintain over 400 highways structures including 100 road bridges, 13 footbridges, 37 culverts, 80 underpasses and 192 retaining walls.
